Robert KatovskyChairman Robert Katovsky founded Counterpoint Systems in 1987 when he spun it out from Complete Computer Services, the predecessor company he had founded with a partner in the 1970s. Over the last twenty five years Robert has led Counterpoint from its foundation to its present position as the market leader with corporate and independent clients worldwide.
As Chairman of Counterpoint Systems, Robert Katovsky continues to ensure that Counterpoint maintains its unrivalled position as the definitive supplier of rights and royalties systems to the music, film and licensing industries. Amos BiegunCEO Amos Biegun joined Counterpoint systems in 1996. Mr. Biegun and Robert Katovsky, Counterpoint’s Chairman, have established Counterpoint as the unrivalled supplier of information systems to the music, film, television and licensing industries worldwide.
Mr. Biegun started in the music industry in 1990 as Operations Manager at Carlin Music, one of the largest independent music publishers in the UK. During his term at Carlin Music, he completely overhauled its administration processes, reduced staffing levels and increased profitability. Mr. Biegun was instrumental in introducing state of the art computing systems, including Counterpoint’s enterprise publishing systems and innovative optical image storage systems for contract management. Mr. Biegun was also instrumental in the setting-up of Carlin Music’s offices in Paris, France (an office he maintains strong links with) and assisted in the updating of information systems and communications for Carlin Music’s headquarters in New York.
Mr Biegun studied for his Bachelors degree in Economics at Tel Aviv University and for his Master of Science degree in Economics at the London School of Economics. Steve Pitts Senior Vice President and General Manager (US) Steve Pitts joined Counterpoint Systems in 2007 and brings to the Counterpoint leadership team over nineteen years of information technology, strategic planning, project management and client services expertise including extensive experience in the media and entertainment industry.
His career included serving as the Vice President, Services for MESoft, Inc. where he oversaw the company's media asset management and digital workflow service offerings for enterprise, studio and production company customers. He was also Vice President, Studio and Feature Production IT at 20th Century Fox, managing end-to-end IT initiatives in support of feature film, television productions, studio operations and licensing & merchandising divisions. He did management consulting in PwC Consulting’s Media and Entertainment practice, including overseeing strategic IT supply chain initiatives for Universal Home Video and, was Director of Global IS Production Services at Sony Pictures Entertainment, managing the technology needs for Sony's film and television productions worldwide. Prior to joining Sony, Steve worked as a programmer and project manager in the aerospace and pharmaceuticals industries. Jon RobinsonVice-President Licensing Jon Robinson joined the company in 1993 and has served as the lead designer and developer for Counterpoint’s flagship licensing product, Pelican ProFiles, since its inception. Jon has been instrumental in the successful implementation of Counterpoint software at a multitude of prestigious clients, including MTV Networks, IEEE and the Campbell Soup Company.
His strong background in complex systems development and delivery (including a Masters in Management Information Systems from California State University) is evident in the comprehensive and innovative nature of the Pelican ProFiles product line.
Counterpoint was Jon's first foray into the Licensing industry. Prior to that, he developed retail accounting and point-of-sale software applications and designed and developed complex analog and digital tracking software for the United States Air Force. He has also been responsible for work on life-cycle maintenance and upgrades for over-the-horizon radar systems. His varied background combined with his business experience has given Counterpoint’s software a unique ability to compute the most complex of royalty fees and financial obligations, while maintaining a logical and user-friendly interface. Rob LeiperVice-President Rob Leiper has been a member of Counterpoint Systems since the founding of the company in 1987. In the late eighties and early nineties Rob was instrumental in setting up publishing systems for Virgin Music around the world and also in redeveloping an accounts package at Chrysalis in London.
With his experience of developing music industry software on IBM midrange systems, Rob worked his way up through the company to his current position as Head of the AS400 Department. As IBM’s AS400 and Counterpoint’s Maestro 400 software became more popular, Rob filled the role of special projects coordinator. Rob Leiper continues to be involved in the design decisions for the new enhanced Maestro 400 package - iMaestro. Ben ClasperVice-President Ben Clasper, department manager for the UK based PC department, is responsible for the PC applications in Counterpoint's Maestro range.
Ben joined Counterpoint in 1998 to manage the design and delivery of Movie Maestro, the company’s first application for the film and television industry.
Having previously worked in film and video finance and royalties for Pathé Film Distribution in London, he oversaw the rollout of Movie Maestro (now incorporated into the Media Maestro suite) throughout the UK its launch in North America and Europe. Ben assumed responsibility for the PC Maestro range as a whole in 2001.
