Counterpoint on New Media Panel

18 October 2006

Counterpoint were delighted to appear appear at the jointly organised “India Media and Entertainment Forum Global Connections” in London on October 16th 2006. Set up and run by The Commonwealth Business Council (CBC) and Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), the forum boasted many of the leading figures from the Film and Enterntainment industries.

Representing Counterpoint was Adriaan Bakker, who joined Mirage Islam from BskyB, Greg Orme, CEO of the Centre for Creative Business, and Santosch Sinha from BBC World Service New Media, on a panel discussing Media, Entertainment and Technology Convergence.

The panel covered issues surrounding the pontential convergence of the Entertainment industry with the telecommunications and I.T. segments, and the opportunities for new renevue streams that this would represent. Adriaan was keen to stress the importance of anticipating these changes, rather than reacting to them once they have happened. Companies should ensure they know their availabilities and are able to exploit new media and ancillary rights. In Counterpoint Adriaan was able to cite a perfect example of how having the right tools for the job can make exploitation of new revenue streams a simple, seamless and highly profitable process.
