Mongrel Media chooses Counterpoint Systems

13 December 2006

Counterpoint is delighted to announce its newest client Mongrel Media, the well known Canadian-based independent motion picture distributor.

Mongrel Media will be implementing our newly rebranded Media Maestro, the most comprehensive rights, royalty, and participation accounting software suites available to film production and distribution companies.

With its modules for theatrical bookings, production script submission, producer participations, talent residuals sales and availability reporting, invoicing and materials tracking, the suite promises to form an integral part of Mongrel Media’s business operationss.

"As our business continued to grow, we reached a point where we were working for our systems, instead of the systems working for us,” said Jonathan Wyman, Mongrel Media’s Director of Operations. “Hours of manual work and manipulation were required to generate basic availability reports. We clearly needed a software application that could meet our specific needs.”

According to Mongrel Media, their decision to utilize Media Maestro involved two defining factors: first, the application tools and its ability to exceed their original list of “needs”, and second the enthusiasm and experience of the Counterpoint staff, which will help to ease the implementation process.

“Our goal is to provide Mongrel Media with a full-service software solution. Media Maestro is an all-inclusive tool that can streamline Mongrel Media’s workflow on a daily basis,” said Amos Biegun, Counterpoint Systems’ CEO.

Mongrel Media have been based in Canada since 1994, Mongrel Media has distributed more than 370 feature films from Canada and around the world. Their prestigious catalogue of critically acclaimed and award-winning productions includes Capote (Bennet Miller), The Corporation (Mark Achbar, Jennifer Abbot and Joel Bakan), Winged Migration (Jacques Perrin), Talk to Her (Pedro Almodovar), House of Flying Daggers (Zhang Yimou), Nowhere in Africa (Caroline Link) and Water (Deepa Mehta).

Mongrel Media’s films are selected from around the world with the Canadian audience in mind. And are presented at festivals, selected commercial and art-house cinemas and are also available for television broadcast.
