MIDEM 2008 Diary

4 February 2008

Counterpoint again exceeded even our own high expectations with the level of success achieved at this year's MIDEM conference in Cannes. With each day bringing more interest in our Maestro range and CRM, and more meetings with existing clients.

Here's a day-by-day account of how the event unfolded:

Day 1: Sunday, January 27th 2008

Unprecedented interest in new Counterpoint stand

MIDEM 2008 got off to flying start for Counterpoint Systems with our experts being called upon to deliver a record number of presentations. Interest was intense right from the start and continued at a rate which showed no signs of slowing by the end of the day.

As always, in amongst the steady stream of interested prospects, it was good to see some of our existing clients, including VP Records and The Right Space.

Visitors showed broadly equal levels of interest between the publishing and record label software ranges with constant demos of Music Maestro, Record Maestro (including our newly available Record Maestro Digital package) and CRM - our web-based Client Relationship Management tool.

Day 2: Monday, January 28th 2008

Interest in new stand and new products continues apace

Since the first few hours of MIDEM 2008, our stall was inundated by current and prospective Counterpoint clients. Nandi, Andrew, and Ben were busy giving demonstrations for the benefit of the constant stream of visitors to our new stand, which was located, as always, at 34.07. Over 50 companies paid us a visit, either to see our products in action for the first time, or to find out about the latest available functionality for their system - These included familiar faces such as 20th Century Fox, PIAS, ROBA, VP Records and Big Loud Bucks.

As predicted, CRM - our web-based Client Relationship Management tool, and our Record Maestro Digital package were the undoubted stars of the show thus far, and attracted plenty of attention and interest.

Day 3: Tuesday, January 29th, 2008

Record breaking interest in product demonstrations

By the middle of day 3 of MIDEM 2008 we had already surpassed all previous records for numbers of new prospects, client meetings and demonstrations. Music Maestro in particular saw huge demand by visitors for demonstrations of its capabilities, while CRM and our Record Maestro Digital package continued to justify their role as the stars of the show.

We had by now met with scores of clients, from Hi Fashion to Strictly Confidential, and the feedback we received regarding our products was fantastic. Our team, which this year includes Zach Ashton, Rob Palmer and Katarina Kucacic, were able to provide on-site customer service, with most most clients keen to run through the modules that they don’t currently have. As always, word of mouth seemed to have played a huge part in our success at MIDEM, with a very high number of customer referrals - It is clear that the music and record industry continues to see Counterpoint as the industry standard for rights and royalties software.

Day 4: Wednesday, January 30th, 2008

Huge interest on a "quiet" day

Wednesday afternoon, traditionally a quiet period for MIDEM, saw an enormous number of unsolicited visits to our stand by interested companies and representatives, including CAM, Hi Fashion, Naxos, and Strictly Confidential. This was by far the busiest Wednesday we’d yet had at MIDEM, very much in-keeping with the unprecedented interest Counterpoint experienced during MIDEM 2008 as a whole.

By the end of day 4, more than 80 new companies had requested and seen demonstrations of Record Maestro and Music Maestro, by far the most interest we have ever had at this event, while our CRM system continued to attract every bit as much attention as we knew it would.

Day 5: Thursday, January 31st, 2008

MIDEM over for another year

Another record-breaking MIDEM for Counterpoint drew to a close with a continued and constant flow of prospective clients coming to see the Maestro range of products.

In addition to thanking all the new prospects we’ve met this year, we would also like to thank those of our existing clients who found time to visit us or set up a meeting. The Counterpoint team, along with everyone who came to see us, contributed to making this our most successful MIDEM on record. This event continues to be an unrivalled opportunity to meet clients face to face and we met with scores of you at our stand this year.

We hope to see you all there in 2009.
