Dr. Seuss to use ProFiles

30 May 2001

Counterpoint Systems today announced that Dr. Seuss Enterprises LP is using its Pelican ProFiles Contract Management System (CMS) for licensors. They'll be using it to manage all of their intellectual property contracts and calculate complex royalties for the electronic monthly and quarterly reporting of royalty statements in order to gain more efficiencies in their operations.

Dr. Seuss Enterprises, LP chose to purchase the Pelican ProFiles CMS product based upon the fact that the software is robust and comprehensive yet affordable. Vice President Susan Brandt, head of the Dr. Seuss Licensing and Marketing office, further indicated that the responsiveness of the team at Counterpoint Systems during the sales process showed us that they are interested in us as a client for the long term. Which was further demonstrated by their impressive list of clients that have been using the Pelican ProFiles software for over a decade. The Pelican ProFiles suite of products as a management tool allows the licensor to understand their licensing business in greater depth with all information consolidated into one cohesive information system.

Who hasn't heard of Whoville, the Cat in the Hat, the Grinch and Oobleck? With the success of the live action film, Dr. Seuss' "How the Grinch Stole Christmas!" and the addition of several new classic licensees in the U.S. and an upcoming international product launch, the folks at Dr. Seuss are ready for Pelican Profiles to maximize their time and money. The primary focus of Dr. Seuss Enterprises LP is to protect the integrity of the Dr. Seuss books while expanding beyond books into licensed merchandise.

The licensing effort is a strategic part of the overall effort to strengthen and protect the relationship consumers have with Dr. Seuss characters. Theodor Geisel (Dr. Seuss) said he never wanted to license his characters to anyone who would "round out the edges". That is one of the guiding philosophies of Dr. Seuss Enterprises.
