Participations allows you to calculate an additional percentage based royalty, on top of the contract royalty, that is paid to a person or company that participates in the royalty (e.g., actors, authors, artists, broadcasters). These are usually people or companies who have some relationship with an entity or property, in that it uses their face, body, idea, work, etc. The participant's portion is included in the original royalty, not in addition to it. The system will print a monthly Participant Statement which discloses the total due to the participant based on the month's royalty activity across all contracts using the entity in question. This information can then be used to create any required accounts payable transactions. A participant can be attached to multiple entities and have different contracts in place at one time. Multiple participants can be attached to the same entity or SKU (Stock Keeping Unit). The calculation takes place at the SKU level after royalty report information is received and total royalty due is calculated. The module will also take into consideration a percentage based handling fee retained by the licensor.
