Data Warehousing allows the client to choose their own ODBC-compliant database (Oracle, MS-SQL, Sybase, and DB2) in which to store their data. The native database in Pelican ProFiles is a Linear Hash Filing System. In order to make the data more readily accessible to a wide variety of software applications, the database can also be stored in an ODBC format. This is accomplished through a series of programs which access ODBC Dynamic Link Libraries to read and write data necessary for the application from and to an ODBC Database. These programs live and operate in the ProFiles product.

The Data Warehousing Module comes with all of the tools necessary to setup and link the ProFiles application to an ODBC back-end database. These tools create, populate, and update the ODBC database in both batch mode and in real-time mode. The Data Warehousing Module also comes with an extensive set of data maps to cross-reference every field in the ProFiles application to its corresponding Table and field in the ODBC database.
