System requirements

Operating Systems

Record Maestro is designed to run on the following operating system platforms:
- Windows NT
- Windows 2000
- Windows XP

Whilst Record Maestro can run on Windows 98 it is not recommended as there may be some conflicts with later versions of the Oracle database. Please contact Counterpoint Systems for further information.

Server Specification

The recommended server specification will vary depending on the size of the database and the expected user activity.
It is important to note that this recommendation should only be used as the basis for a more detailed specification following a discussion of client requirements in the planning phase of implementation.
The above specification is based on a Windows O/S. Oracle will run on other operating systems such as Unix or Linux.

ProcessorHigh-end Pentium III/ Pentium IV class CPU.
Operating systemMS Windows NT or later O/S and a Microsoft compatible mouse.
Memory1 Gig RAM and then 32MB RAM per additional user over and above five initial users, i.e. there can never be too much memory.
Monitor and videoSVGA monitor with 1 MB video RAM running in 800x600 resolution.
Hard disk20 Gig free hard drive space and then specific sizing requirements based on each client's usage of Record Maestro.
MiscCD Rom drive.

Client Specification

ProcessorPentium III class CPU.
Operating systemMS Windows NT/2000/XP and a Microsoft compatible mouse.
Monitor and videoSVGA monitor with 1 MB video RAM running in 800x600 resolution.
Hard disk100 MB free hard drive space.
Misc100baseT network card.

Single User System

Personal Oracle can only be used as a single user license. It cannot be networked in any way and cannot be installed on a network drive.
As a consequence the machine on which Record Maestro is run must be capable of running both Oracle and the Record Maestro software itself.
Recommended requirements:

ProcessorPentium III class CPU
Operating systemMS Windows NT/2000 and a Microsoft compatible mouse.
Memory512 MB RAM.
Monitor and videoSVGA monitor with 1 MB video RAM running in 800x600 resolution.
Hard disk20 Gig free hard drive space.
MiscCD Rom drive.

Remote Access

Record Maestro is licensed on a concurrent user basis and as long as there is a single instance of the database in one location there is no additional charge for remote sites that have access to the database.
Record Maestro does not distinguish between the potential locations of the client workstations and therefore users can connect to the database through a dedicated client from anywhere in the world providing they have remote access to the network or the Oracle server itself.
Remote access can be achieved via any dial up connection or using terminal services such as Citrix or any other appropriate terminal services software.
Bandwidth requirements will vary depending upon operations performed by the user. Contact Counterpoint Systems for more information if required.
